Bad Boy Bio
Bad Boy consists of four veteran musicians who play melodic rock music with
an explosive chemistry that never fails to deliver. Due to popular demand,
Bad Boy has finally released a Best of Bad Boy CD compilation on Surgeland
Records featuring selected songs from their previous albums Private Party,
Electric Eyes and Girl On The Run, along with two newly written and recorded
songs especially for this project.
The current band roster is led by the multi-talented Steve Grimm -
songwriter, lead vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist. Popular for his stint
with Cheap Trick, top-notch vocalist Xeno adds his dimension of unique
musical style to the band. Rounding out the act are the rhythm section
members featuring new drummer Scott E. Berendt (Us Project) along with
bassist Craig Evans, formerly with Justice and Rockerfellers, providing the
perfect synchronization and pulsating beat characteristic of the melodic rock
genre.
Steve Grimm's songwriting talent is hailed as "outstanding" among the
national music industry community and has been continually recognized. In
1992, Steve's song Turn the Key was the grand prize winner of the Songwriters
of Wisconsin contest. He has also been a seven-time winner of the local
Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards as well as a finalist in numerous
national songwriting contests. Xeno, with his raw vocal wares, has been
revered as one of the most expressive and emotional vocalists in the industry
today.
Bad Boy has been active in the Midwestern rock music scene for a significant
number of years. Bad Boy founders Steve Grimm, John Marcelli, Joey LaVie, and
Lars Hanson began their performance and songwriting careers when they were
teens with the band Crossfire. Eventually, Crossfire evolved into the
legendary Bad Boy. As the leader of Bad Boy in the 70's and 80's, Steve
Grimm's momentum drove his team to regional success and scored a two-album
recording contract with United Artists in 1977. Bad Boy also released two
additional LPs, several singles and an EP on the Streetwise and Legend
labels, has been inducted into the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Hall of
Fame, received a WAMI nomination for "Best Album of the Year" for their "Best
of Bad Boy" CD on Surgeland Records, and performs for sell-out crowds on a
continuing basis.
